In keeping with Art Murmur’s mission of documenting noteworthy cultural phenomena, Code Blue examines the confluence of the social, economic, political, and biological ramifications of rapid change and revolutionary breakthroughs in the healthcare and medicine domains. There are many issues in healthcare and medicine currently taking center stage. Among them are the access to affordable care, the commercialization of pharmaceuticals, the controversies surrounding recent advances in genetic research, and the dramatic shifts in disease demography. Art Murmur has solicited a variety of work from its artists seeking to provide an aesthetic interpretation of our society’s struggle with the ethics and challenges of modern medicine.
