Conrad Buff, “Zion”, oil on board, 17 1/2" x 22".
George Stern Fine Arts presents an exhibition for the artist Conrad Buff (1886-1975) opening September 10 and continuing through October 17, 2005. George Stern Fine Arts is the proud owner of the Buff estate. This show will feature paintings by Buff currently at the gallery and those never before seen by the public.
A Swiss born and self-taught artist, Buff excelled as a painter, lithographer, illustrator and muralist. Buff immigrated to the United States in 1905 and eventually moved to the West, where he painted numerous desert landscapes. The artist finally settled in Pasadena and Laguna Hills where he continued to paint, and master, his celebrated stark mountain and desert landscapes. This exhibition brings to light Conrad Buff’s gradual growth as an artist, which is evidenced in his paintings through his successive stylistic changes.
George Stern Fine Arts is located at 8920 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, California. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and Monday by appointment. The opening reception will be Saturday, September 10 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Valet parking will be available behind the gallery.
