(Hermosa Beach, Calif.) - Gallery C will open its doors to the public on Thursday, July 28 at 7 p.m. for its summer group exhibition. The gallery set a precedent in 2004 with its summer show “9,” by bringing a staggering 2,000 people to its opening event. “21” is anticipating an even greater attendance by not only featuring 21 outstanding artists, but also by thrilling the senses with a ten piece marimba band, refreshments and gourmet hors d’oeuvres. The exhibition will remain on display through September 17, 2005.
Keeping with the annual thematic tradition, “21” is more than just a number. Each of the 21 artists were chosen for their figurative, scenic and abstract interpretation of the diverse southern California experience. Call it eclectic, declare it visual schizophrenia, whatever the label, the 21 artist’s works featured in Gallery C’s annual summer show “21” are electrifying and powerful. Together, they are a little bit of something for everyone – evoking emotion and nostalgia with a flood of diverse media, including painting, drawing and sculpture. Individually, they represent the mavericks, the fresh new faces and the seasoned veterans that makeup the California art scene.
“21” artists include Douglas C. Bloom, Elizabeth Chandler, Lori Cozen-Geller, Joshua Elias, Joseph P. Gerges, James Hill, Kathleen Keifer, Stacie Krajchir, Marion Lane, Lori Petty, Jennifer Poon, Nathan Rohlander, Adam Sherman, Grace Short, Lee Silton, Michael Sokolis, Cristy Thom, Daena Tittle, Roger Weik, Holly Williams-Brock and Jennifer Wolf.
