Details from Marc Nimoy's works "Pandora's Box - Finger Jiggles" and "Box-song"
Los Angeles, CA, June 23, 2007 - Interactive light-sound boxes that respond to touch, metal flowers that respond with sound to light, 3D light constellations that speak of things past, a cycle of over-the-top Max/MSP/Jitter interactive pieces---this is the gist of "box song and others," a show at Dangerous Curve of recent sound installation work by musician/programmer Marc Nimoy http://www.digitanalog.net. Come see it, handle it. Let it transform you.
The celebration of Nimoy's exhibition is on Saturday, July 7, 2007, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., featuring the usual great organic food prepared with the help of our master vegan chef, John Saslow. The live music is by ing, our favs. The exhibit is up until August 4, 2007.
We're located two miles from Chinatown, at 1020 East Fourth Place, between Molino and Mateo Streets, in the back of the 500 Molino Street Lofts, #102, between the Fourth Street Bridge's (on the LA River side of downtown) two on/off ramps. See our website http://dangerouscurve.org for directions, pictures, and updates.
More about the Artist and the Art
Marc Nimoy received his M.F.A. in Composition-Experimental Sound Practices from CalArts and his B.A. in Music Performance from UCLA. He is a working musician, teacher, and programmer who likes building things such as electronic instruments and clean-looking software interfaces. (See http://music.calarts.edu/~mnimoy/portfolio/programming.html) He performs regularly in the Los Angeles area as a laptop rock star. You may have also seen him around town (including Dangerous Curve) as part of The Nimoys http://www.thenimoys.com, a group he's in with his brother Josh. (Both are nephews of Leonard.) Recently, he started focusing on sound sculptures and installations.
