Art World Poker, a group show at i-5 Gallery organized by Mat Gleason, will open to the public on Friday, June 9, with an opening reception on Sunday, June 11 from 4 - 7 pm.
i-5 Gallery is located at the Brewery Art Colony, 2100 N. Main Street, LA 90031.
Art World Poker features the work of over 40 artists. The participants will begin playing elimination poker tournaments later this month. When an artist is eliminated in a poker tournament, he or she is eliminated from the show. The winner of a summer’s worth of tournaments will win a solo show in August at the i-5 Gallery.
The exhibit is more than games - it is a conceptual investigation into the roles played by chance and skill and their correlation to quality in art, as well as the experiential reconfiguring of exhibitions.
The gallery is open on Fridays and Saturdays from Noon - 4 pm
