Compelling Imagery and Boundary Pushing Installations in Gallery C’s Upcoming Exhibition "Image and Idea: San Francisco Art Today"
WHAT:
"Image and Idea: San Francisco Art Today" highlights the works of leading contemporary artists in the Bay Area. Thought-provoking installations, mixed media pieces and video imagery will be displayed with paintings in Gallery C’s upcoming exhibition. Curated by Nancy Silverman-Miles.
WHO:
Among the artists featured will be Jim Campbell, Tony Labat, M. Caren McCaleb, Bull Miletic, Ian Treasure, Larry Yung, Michelle Muldrow and Brad Silverstein.
WHEN:
"Image and Idea: San Francisco Art Today," opens to the public with a reception on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. The exhibition will remain on view until Saturday, July 24, 2004.
ABOUT THE GALLERY:
Gallery C has transformed the soaring spaces of the 1923 Bijou Theater into a dynamic new gallery. With nearly 6,500 square feet of exhibition space and ceilings that soar, at points, up to 28 feet, Gallery C has a luxury of space and light not often offered by many museums. A sensitive update of the historic Bijou Theater has been accomplished by the acclaimed architectural collaborative, Graft, whose work for the recent SITE Sante Fe was recognized by the International Association of Art Critics as "best exhibition design" of 2001/2002.
